The Kenyon men’s and women’s tennis teams turned in strong performances during their annual spring break trip to Florida, putting up dominant wins and building momentum as conference play continues.

Men: The No. 13 Owls entered the break unbeaten and maintained their impressive run with a series of victories, finishing the stretch 6-1 and improving to 12-1 overall. 

Kenyon opened the run on Feb. 28 with a decisive 7-0 NCAC sweep of Wabash College on the road. The Owls captured all three doubles matches before soaring through singles play. Paulo Pocasangre Kreling ’26, Maximo Llamas Castellanos ’29 and Juozas Cioladis ’28 each earned straight-set wins at the top of the lineup as Kenyon secured its eighth consecutive victory. 

After arriving in Florida, the Owls maintained their momentum with another sweep, defeating Allegheny College (Penn.) 7-0 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. Kenyon again controlled doubles play before rolling through singles, highlighted by straight-set victories from Pocasangre Kreling, Alejandro Gonzalez ’27 and Llamas Castellanos. 

Kenyon’s lone setback of the trip came i a tightly contested 4-3 loss to No. 17 Carnegie Mellon University (Penn.). After dropping the doubles point, the Owls battled back behind singles wins from Gonzalez, Llamas Castellanos and Cioladis, but Carnegie Mellon ultimately secured the match with victories in the No. 5 and 6 singles matchups. 

The Owls quickly rebounded the following day with a 4-0 win over No. 22 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (N.Y.). Kenyon swept the doubles matches and claimed three singles courts to clinch the shortened decision, with Llamas Castellanos, Cioladis and Stylianos Papamichael ’29 all winning in straight sets. 

Kenyon returned to form with another pair of dominant wins in Orlando. The Owls defeated Washington College (Md.) 7-0, taking all nine matches. Llamas Castellanos, Pocasangre Kreling and Cioladis led the singles lineup, while Sree Kondaveeti ’29 and Jay Kedar-Dixit ’27 added strong wins in the middle of the order. 

The trip concluded with a 4-0 victory over Vassar College (N.Y.). Kenyon claimed the doubles point before securing singles wins from Gonzalez, Cioladis and Rohan Sriram ’28 to clinch the match. 

Women: The No. 17 women’s team also spent the week competing in Florida, finishing the trip 4-2 while facing several nationally ranked opponents. 

Kenyon opened the week against No. 13 Carnegie Mellon, ultimately falling 5-2 despite singles wins from Leni Lazaridou ’26 and Clare Hudson ’28. Lazaridou delivered a strong performance at the top of the lineup with a straight-set victory. 

The Owls bounced back immediately the following day with a 7-0 sweep of No. 25 Christopher Newport University (Va.). Lazaridou, Kiara Komlodi ’29 and Hana Nouaime ’28 led the singles lineup with convincing wins, while the Owls captured two of three doubles matches to secure an early advantage. 

Kenyon continued its play with another strong display, defeating No. 28 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 7-0. After earning the doubles point, Lazaridou, Komlodi and Nouaime all won comfortably in singles, while Maya Stolarsky ’29 and Bridgette Kelly ’28 added additional straight-set victories. 

The Owls then faced a tough challenge against No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) but emerged with a 4-1 victory. Lazaridou and Komlodi both earned convincing singles wins, and Hudson secured another point for Kenyon after the Owls captured the doubles point. 

Kenyon concluded the trip with a dominant 7-0 sweep of Sweet Briar College (Va.). Komlodi, Stolarsky and Brandon Ackermann ’28 each won comfortably in singles, while the Owls swept all three doubles courts. 

Throughout the week, Lazaridou and Komlodi anchored the top of the lineup, and the Owls’ depth across both singles and doubles proved decisive in several matches. 

With spring break competition complete, both Kenyon teams return north carrying momentum into the heart of their spring schedules and upcoming conference play.
