On Saturday afternoon at Mavec Field, the Kenyon women’s soccer team celebrated Senior Day with a 2-0 victory over Oberlin College, a significant win as the Owls move into the final stretch of the season. Then, Kenyon tied 1-1 on the road at Ohio Wesleyan University. The result brings Kenyon’s record to 9-2-5 overall (3-1-2 NCAC), keeping the Owls near the top of the conference and in position to make the playoffs as the regular season winds down. 

From the opening whistle, Kenyon controlled the pace of the match. The Owls outshot the Yeowomen 15-4, clearly maintaining possession and dictating play throughout the game. 

Kenyon broke the deadlock in the 68th minute when Addilyn Tober ’28 found the back of the net with a precise finish, giving the home team the lead. Just over a minute later, midfielder Holly Byun ’28 struck, capitalizing on a feed from Brooke Heis ’26 to seal the 2-0 outcome. These back-to-back goals showcased Kenyon’s ability to quickly convert momentum into goals and maintain offensive pressure. 

Kenyon goalkeeper Ariel Kite ’27 earned the shutout with two key saves, helping the Owls maintain a clean sheet. Offensively, Addison Szollosi ’29, Claire Pruner ’28 and Jenna Michel ’26 were instrumental in sustaining pressure and generating opportunities, moving the ball effectively in the attacking third and testing Oberlin’s defense throughout the match. 

The Owls’ performance was balanced on both ends of the field. Defensively, the team stayed disciplined, limiting Oberlin’s chances and protecting the lead, while the midfield controlled the tempo and the forwards executed with composure. The team’s ability to maintain possession, press effectively and capitalize on scoring chances reflects a level of cohesion and tactical awareness that will be critical as the Owls approach the final conference games and prepare for postseason play. 

Senior Day added an emotional layer to the victory. Before kickoff, the program honored its 10 seniors for their leadership, dedication and contributions to the program over the years. The win provided a fitting tribute to these players in front of family, friends and supporters. 

Just three days after its Senior Day victory, Kenyon returned to action on Tuesday night, earning a 1-1 draw against Ohio Wesleyan University on the road. The match began with both teams trading chances in an energetic opening stretch. Despite a series of early saves from Kite, Ohio Wesleyan broke through in the seventh minute to give the Battling Bishops a 1-0 lead. 

Kenyon’s response came late in the first half after sustained pressure in the offensive third. In the 42nd minute, midfielder Margot Kuller ’26 delivered a well-placed assist to Tober, who continued her scoring streak with the equalizer. The goal — Tober’s second in two straight games — shifted the momentum in Kenyon’s favor heading into halftime. 

Kenyon earned 7 corner kicks over the course of the match, with Emily Copeland ’28 attempting 4 shots. Defenders Heis, Anna Taggart ’26 and Hannah Schmidt ’29 anchored the back line, keeping the Bishops’ attack largely contained and preventing any clear scoring chances after halftime. 

Kite remained steady in goal, recording four saves. On the attacking end, contributions from Kuller, Zoe Lipp ’28 and Pruner helped sustain pressure and create late scoring chances as Kenyon pushed for a win in the final minutes. 

Although the Owls were unable to find another goal, the draw extends their unbeaten streak to four matches. Kenyon will close out the regular season this weekend on the road against Denison University.
