For the first time in Kenyon history, the women’s golf team took to the green and competed in the Lynn Schweizer Invitational at Denison University. The Owls placed 10th out of 13 teams, facing NCAC foes such as Denison, DePauw University, Wittenberg University and The College of Wooster.

Sasha Belova ’29 started off strong for Kenyon, shooting a 36 through the first nine holes of the opening round. Belova continued her solid round by carding a 4-over-par 37 across the back nine holes, the best of the day for the Owls and 77th overall. Two of her 18 holes were below par, 11 were par, and the remaining carded as bogeys, with only one coming as a double bogey. Jane Fanning ’29 finished the first round with an 86. Camryn Nelson ’29 carded 101 while teammate Macy Printy ’29 shot a 101 and Molly Haag ’26, the only senior in a team otherwise consisting of five first years and one sophomore, finished with a 120. 

The Owls were ready for redemption on the second day of the tournament, looking to better their scores from the previous afternoon. Belova carded an 80 overall, 8-over par, the top scorer for Kenyon once again. Fanning finished with an 84, Nelson and Printy each carded a 90, and Haag shot a 105. The Owls were only able to muster three birdies this round: Belova’s first hole, Fanning’s 15th and Printy’s 8th. 

After both rounds, the Owls finished at 115-over par in total, landing them 10th place. Individually, Belova tied for 14th at 12-over par, the highest score for Kenyon. Fanning finished tied for 38th and Nelson finished tied for 52nd. 

The tournament marked the first-ever competition for the women’s golf team. The groundbreaking group will be back in action on Sept. 21, competing in the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Invitational.
