Blackmer finished in 25th place.
This past weekend, the Kenyon men’s and women’s cross country teams traveled to Terre Haute, Indiana, to compete in the NCAC Championship. Both teams claimed sixth place in their respective races.
Men: Peter Bernhardt ’25 led the team’s sixth-place finish in the 8k race, claiming 19th place with a time of 26:46.76. Henry Rodrigues ’26 was close behind him, taking 21st place and clocking in at 26:59.30. After the race, both runners claimed a spot on the All-NCAC Third Team, as the first 21 finishers were awarded all-conference honors.
Next to cross the finish line were Charlie Blackmer ’28, with a time of 27:12.83, which earned him 25th, and Joshua Breard ’26, who finished in 27:23.62 and claimed 30th place for the Owls. Dylan Sibbitt ’26 also contributed to the team’s point total and took 34th place with his time of 27:38.41.
Women: The women’s team was also able to claim sixth place in the conference in its 6k race. Olivia Ide ’27 led the way with a time of 24:12.29, which was good for 24th place, just short of the all-conference accolade. Next across the finish line for the Owls was Lucie Prior ’28, taking 42nd place with a time of 25:16.52. Finishing subsequently was the team’s only senior, Ellianne Retzlaff ’25, with a time of 25:21.07, and Amelia Sims ’27 stopped the clock just over two seconds later. Penny Griffioen ’27 rounded out the women’s team score with a time of 25:41.38, good for 48th place.
Both teams will run again on Nov. 16, with the men heading to Shelbyville, Indiana, and the women to Franklin, Indiana, for their respective NCAA Regional Championships. The meets will provide opportunities for both the teams and individuals to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.
