The Kenyon women’s basketball team visited Denison University over the weekend and fell to the Big Red 93-69. Though both teams shot efficiently, Denison’s 3-point shooting and Kenyon’s turnovers gave the Big Red the win.
The Owls got off to a strong start and led 12-9 with two minutes to play in the first quarter, but Denison countered with strong shooting, which gave the Big Red a crucial six-point lead after 10 minutes. Going into the half, the scoreboard read 45-33, favoring Denison. The second half was more of the same for the two teams. The Big Red continued to grow their advantage throughout the third quarter, before leading by 20 going into the final frame. Though Kenyon scored the quarter’s first five points, Denison responded swiftly and won by a final score of 93-69.
Katie Orefice ’23 and Claudia Cooke ’24 led the way for the Owls. Both scored 17 points, while also grabbing five and six rebounds, respectively. Bela Krslovic ’24 (11 points) and Alyssa Gest ’26 (10 points) also hit double digits.
After a weeklong break from their last game, the Owls will look to get back on track on the road when they face Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. Kenyon’s record currently stands at 6-13 (2-6 NCAC).
