Although my Title IX training prevented me from attending the hypnotist presentation today, I was pleasantly entertained by the diatribes regarding the event that circulated on allstu earlier this week. Every couple of hours, I opened my email and smiled while seeing a new response from someone else. Holding out to see if allemp was copied on each new email was a particularly intriguing experience. As many have noted, Kenyon mass email chains are on the rise. Personally, I’m a fan.
I’m disappointed the ADs didn’t find that water bottle last week, but it was delightful to watch people all over campus mourn the missing item. Those emails were not always as funny as I think their authors thought, but I’m impressed by anyone who voluntarily signs their names below their comedic attempts. This week, I was in awe of those who fought over Samuel Mather 201. In a world where Yik Yak is overused and everybody snickers behind closed doors, I admire people who air their opinions publicly.
Mostly, though, allstus are funny. We all remember when certain professors debated world events over email threads, or others admonished certain closed-door behaviors. Regardless of my perspectives on the issues, I’ll always appreciate the laughs those emails brought. They gave my friends and me inside jokes for months. I LOLed when the juniors informed the entire campus about their New Side lunch plans. But I laughed more watching people take it too seriously. Speak your mind, double-space it in Times New Roman if you please, but don’t make it too deep. Let me know how Peirce is at Wednesday lunch and why you think certain campus programming is inappropriate. If you find my K-Card, make sure everyone sees the proof. Send your pressing thoughts on allstu. And remember to write “subscribe.”
