On Sunday, Student Council met to discuss Kenyon’s blue light emergency phones, upcoming campus events and new Business and Finance Committee (BFC) guidelines. 

• To begin, Interim Director of Campus Safety T. Todd Bell spoke to the Council about the emergency blue light phones located around the campus. Currently, the Office of Campus Safety is beginning the preliminary stages of removing most phone stations, only keeping a small percentage available on more rural areas of the Hill. Phones will remain in some places, such as the Franklin Miller Observatory and the Brown Family Environmental Center. Additions will be installed at the Zion Road farmhouse. Bell cited lack of use as a reason for the decision, as only one call was made on the phones within the last year.  
• Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Yasha Zehra ’26 announced that the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’s senior recognition ceremony will be held on Tuesday. More details regarding the event will come via email. 
• First Year Class President Macy Shelton ’29 reported that the First Year Class Committee will be hosting an end-of-semester social. The event will take place on May 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. on the First Year Quad.
• Buildings, Grounds, and Sustainability Committee Chair Delaney Sefchick ’28 notified the Council that Epsilon Delta Mu, Theta Delta Phi and the Archon Society will be hosting a clean-up event at the Kokosing Nature Preserve on Saturday in light of Earth Week. All students are welcome to volunteer.
• Student Council President Christiane Betfarhad ’26 congratulated those elected to the Council for the 2026-27 academic year.  
• Julius Thompson II ’26 was welcomed into the meeting to propose a new fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, on campus. The Council deliberated and voted in favor.
• Student Council then discussed new BFC guidelines for the upcoming academic year (see page 3).
• Campus Senate co-Chair Aidan Cullen ’26 reminded the Council that the Senate is actively reworking its constitution. Changes will occur through two sections: procedural changes and redefining the goals and mission of the Senate.

The final Student Council meeting of the 2025-26 academic year will take place on Sunday in Chalmers 320 at 7 p.m. All students are welcome to attend either in person or remotely.
