Student Council: Monday, April 13

The Campus Safety Committee has narrowed down the safety app search to five potential apps from which to choose.

The Senior Class Committee is planning a “senior shindig” to promote donations to the Kenyon Fund and is finalizing the class gift.

The Junior Class Committee has put together an apartment kitchen starter kit package to sell to students living in apartment housing.

The Buildings and Grounds Committee did not report any updates.

The Council for Diversity and Social Justice finalized the details of their Thumbs Up admissions event to be held Sunday, April 19.

The Committee for Academic Affairs has made the policy surrounding the grace period, in which professors cannot assign additional work, clearer and less flexible.

First Year Council held its Weaver Wednesday event and is finishing tank-top sales this week. They are also putting together finals week survival kits.

The Housing and Dining Committee finalized theme housing and is hosting informational tabling sessions about the changes in the housing lottery.

The Student Life Committee did not meet last week. Elections are continuing for Student Council positions. Polls close on April 20 at noon.

The Sophomore Class Committee held a successful T-shirt sale.

The Business and Finance Committee (BFC) met to discuss fall 2015 budget allocations. Student Council approved all BFC allocations.

Student Council voiced concerns vis-à-vis the pending Senate resolution to restrict access to dorms on weekends after quiet hours. Two members recommended approving the resolution, 12 members recommended disapproving the resolution and one member abstained. The Council would like to see more detailed research and specific language in any further drafts of the resolution.
