The search for Kenyons next president is officially under way. The Presidential Search Committee will host a community forum in Rosse Hall at 4:00 p.m on Friday, Sept. 28. The forum will seek community input on the campus hopes for Kenyons next president.
The Committee will then take those comments and write a prospectus that describes the College, its challenges and the qualities community members most want to see in the next president. The hope is that this document will give applicants an accurate understanding of the College and a better understanding of what type of executive Kenyon is looking for.
The Committee, chaired by Brackett B. Denniston 69 and vice-chaired by Aileen Hefferren 88 H12, has chosen Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, a recruitment firm that specializes in services for higher education and non-profit organizations, to aid in the search.Shelly Weiss Storbeck, managing partner of Storbeck/Pimental, will help guide the process. The firm has helped appoint presidents at institutions like Haverford College, Middlebury College, Pomona College, Smith College, Swarthmore College and Vassar College, among others.
You want to set forth the challenges and opportunities a new president will face and that we want that president to tackle, Denniston said in a statement issued by the College. Some of them will be obvious the financial challenges and continuing the high quality of the academic program, the faculty and the student body. How do we continue to make the College better?
Though most of the committee members will be in attendance, the meeting will also be taped for those unable to attend. The Committee also encourages community members to send comments to presidentialsearch@kenyon.edu. For more information on the Committees actions, visit www.kenyon.edu/presidentialsearch.
